Customer question:
Mario. How much is it for 2 outdoor cameras? How do I know if they're "good" cameras?
My "quick" answer - "It Depends...":
Hey Linda, I actually don't make any cameras, we just have many years of experience buying and installing cameras and we do lots of market research as well. Essentially we find the best stuff and we provide it to our clients based on their needs.
I wouldn't say that products are "good" or bad in general it's more about the question: Does it work great for your situation?
For example we have a camera we can install for the forest service that costs $82,000 per device and it's used to detect fires in the early stages so we can send the helicopter to the right places. Obviously a fantastic camera, but it would be a terrible camera to buy for a small business or a home.
On the flip side of that we have little battery operated cameras that connect to wifi and are quite inexpensive and still give a pretty good picture and do some cool things. Great little cameras for the money! The downside is that when you have an outdoor camera up on your house then you don't necessarily want to be up on a ladder changing the batteries all the time when they go out. And you also don't want the hassle of the camera disconnecting from wifi right when there is a problem. Or worse yet, maybe you pay this money for these cameras and then the one time there's an actual problem the camera clip misses the footage because it starts too late or stops the clip too early. This doesn't even mention the fact that if you don't get the license plate or the person's face, how can you prove what really happened? Many lower cost cameras can't get what you need and so it ends up being less valuable in that situation...
All this to say that it really depends on what you want to use the camera for. Are you more worried about when you're home or when you're gone? Do you store vehicles and other important things outside or are you more worried about your family or your heirlooms inside? Do you need to capture people's faces and vehicle license plates or would motion capture suffice? What is the budget we want to stick to?
So many questions and it just starts there, then how do you install the product once you get it?
At Caveman we take a complex market and set of products and provide recommendations based on your needs.
In your particular case, what problem or problems are you trying to solve? What are your main concerns and what are you hoping to achieve?
Once we understand your needs, we can couple that with how much you want to spend to provide you some good ideas and implement those solutions together.
